INSPIRATION: Fun acid green woven favor boxes from Beau-coup.com
It’s finally starting to feel a bit more like Spring here in the Kansas City, MO area. Hooray! This time of year means a round of Spring cleaning (ugh! :-(), which means it’s time to reduce, recycle and reuse. So here’s a tablescape to remind us to go green (have a garage sale, donate to thrift stores, use old items for new creations, vow to stop shopping…..whoa! Wait a minute! Who threw that last one in there??!?!?!!). In other words, time to go green!!!

This fun green & white table for 8 begins with a fresh white full-length linen from LinenTablecloth.com. I was so happy to once again have a chance to use this fabulous Mikasa “Daylight” dinnerware. With its freshly sprouted leaves on a wispy branch, it says Spring to me like no other dish I have whether it’s for a birthday, a ladies’ luncheon or Sunday brunch! (Click HERE to see these dishes used in another colorful Spring setting AND in a subdued Asian-inspired theme. They’re just that versatile!)
Simple clear glass stemware from Old Time Pottery doesn’t compete with the flurry of decor on the table. The “chargers” are rustic grapevine wreaths. (These were also used as chargers for an American Royal tablescape HERE.) Dark faux bamboo flatware from Home Goods works in concert with the chargers and branch design on the plates.
The good folks at Beau-coup.com sent me these eye-popping acid green woven favor boxes. They look terrific “as is”, or you can dress them up with any manner of flourish. Here, to keep the organic look and theme of recycling to go green, I hot glued pieces of broken from the chargers. Imagine these with a pretty silk posy, a tilted bird’s nest, a pouf of ribbon, or a simple twine bow. Just go wherever your imagination and theme take you! TIP: This shade of green is often hard to “match.” Don’t even try to go there. Take your cue from nature’s variegated colors and strive to complement rather than match.
I found the squared-off green vases at a nearby wholesale store that always has something fun to tempt me. The shape of these vases lends itself to a variety of looks. On this table the arrangement is merely 3 majestically tall faux agapanthus. (I used these same green vases on the buffet with lots of orchids overflowing HERE.) An oversized acid green butterfly with pretty mesh wings perches on the side. To bring the moppy heads of the agapanthus down closer to eye level, I snipped and plopped a few into sleek white ceramic urns.
Candlesticks aren’t just for candles! I used these white turned wood candlesticks from Z Gallerie to hold large, heavy mercury balls that sow a little shine into the otherwise unpolished setting.
I bought a bunch of these little rose bundles wholesale a while back in several colors. I’ve seen similar ones in stores like Michaels. They look really good massed together as seen here in this white weathered aluminum planter. A single bundle is just enough to fill a smaller white ceramic urn.
On the buffet is a massive grapevine wreath that carries on the look of the chargers on the dining table. In the spirit of recycling and looking for something with a funky little beat, I used the stems cut from the agapanthus on the table to create a rambling design on one side of the wreath. The asymmetrical design is balanced a little with the presence of 3 more of the large butterflies. A mercury ball finial brings shine to the vignette, while dessert plates and forks peek out from beneath a floral arrangement.
On the tea cart are faux bamboo spoons and gorgeous Mikasa “Daylight” cups & saucers. A Ralph Lauren pierced cake pedestal (Tuesday Morning) holds more of the Beau-coup favor boxes, this time unadorned and filled with cookies for guests to take home. Your choice: favors on the table at each individual place setting, or displayed en masse for guests to pick up on their way out the door.

Okay Sister!!! I used my Daylight last Sunday for dinner. It’s always so refreshing. Love the grapevine wreaths.. and the table I plan (yes hopefully) for this week has been mapped out. green and off white, nest chargers.. We are on the same wave length for sure. Alycia, I love spring and your tablescape captures the very essense of spring. Particularly the green leafing that emerges while there’s still a hint of winter left behind – as in the gravevine wreathes. Very creative idea in using the wreaths as chargers too. Oh and the coordinating flatware is to die for! Truly a beautiful table. It’s always so much fun visiting your blog. I feel as if I’m invited to party every time.

I love the green pops of color and those darling little woven boxes!! or the silver orbs….total drool fest…. You are making it SO DIFFICULT not to go shopping for other colors! But I will try to THINK green, and not BUY green….I hope you’re feeling better and enjoying some nice weather!

This table says, “AAAAhhhhhh….it’s spring….” nice and slowly, as we breathe in and breathe out….So refreshing, and calm, and inviting. I am GREEN with envy now! Gorgeous fun table, and you have so creatively tied all the elements together. Those woven boxes would have inspired me too, they are darling! I zoomed way in to check out the cookies! The agapanthus are the perfect choice for those vases and I love the single blossoms perched on a lower level. Your mix of natural elements with the flashy green pieces works so well for a fresh and fanciful table! Lots of ideas and inspiration here, thank you!

Love the acid green, grapevine wreaths and the silver balls! For some reason, that combination of color and texture really make me hungry. Go figure, but then I guess that’s a good thing with a tablescape. Cute little woven favor boxes, too. That was nice of Beau Coup to send them for your use. Hope your shoulders are feeling better. Yes, I am definitely seeing Spring on your table and now in the yard too here in the KC area. I am so happy for warmer days and daffodils blooming. I sat outside with my grandsons playing in the yard over the weekend and it was wonderful. Love it!!

this is the perfect way to launch us into Spring! the heck with that stop shopping thing!! LOL! The boxes are adorable and I also love the balls on top of the candlestick holders. Funny thing is I’ve been playing with doing something similar with patterned balls. All I keep thinking is that it’s a darn good thing we don’t live closer or it would be dangerous!

Oh my goodness, Alycia, I love that chartreuse color, as it’s so stunning against the white. Those Mikasa dishes are to die for! They would make eating fun just by looking at them. You could serve a cracker on them and I’d be happy! I love the chargers, the flatware and the mimicked wreath. It’s all just so pretty.

If the dishes were a starting point, they certainly lent themselves as a real inspiration. Using chartreuse as your green is a nice break from the more traditional tones, but then I expect no less from you. Love the little boxes. They would be perfect to put a little “happy” in. Spring is, indeed, here though it looks like we have one more little setback on the way.

Ah, welcome to spring…once again U hit a “homerun”..ain’t mad at Ya lol…..Way to Go!!!! I must have channeled U, as grapevines for chargers were on my shopping list. Had decided to use them instead of the woven rattan ones, because they were cheaper! In Shopper’s Recovery til June. Darn IRS!!!!

Oh my, I blew right by the ‘shout out.’ Thanks for the mention, sweet friend. Do you all have Home Goods in KC? They have some wonderful goblets in a lavender/pink, or green, or blue, or a light amber. They have a scrolled design on them. Thought that you’d want to check them out. I brought home a bunch of the lavender/pink (I think that they’re going to be chameleon-like and change colors) from Dallas. I can hardly wait to use them. I kept trying to read this post and walking away…. the acid green, my Mom Carole’s favourite colour . Carole ( my mom by luv, not birth) passed away 2 years ago… I finally just opened it… what a beautiful table. She would have luved this!! Totally! The chargers on the grapevine wreaths… the elegance of the Mikasa with the rusticity of the wreaths. You truly married the 2 wonderfully.

My favorite color of green. The grapevine wreaths for chargers…fantastic. The large vases are perfect. You have the most beautiful and unique tall vases. Where do you store all this? Do you have a basement?

Oh Alycia, I just love this one!!!!! And that green! wow…..that’s the color green I looked forever for in a small accent pillow for my family room sofa. Accidentally found it one day at Salvation Army in a bin filled with a ton of other pillows. I think the little pillow might be from the 70’s. Fabulous tablescape. xo
