Winter Sports

(I apologize if you are receiving this for the 2nd time. My first installation seems to have disappeared into thin air, so I’m reposting (with a 30-second video of the room added to this one). Technology!🤨😤)

I’ve lived in the Kansas City, MO area all of my life, and I will NEVER get used to the cold winter weather! Snow, ice, wind…y’all can have it! Not my jam AT ALL. But traveling to Silverthorne, CO for vacation one recent year was a teeth-chattering delight, perhaps because our hosts were fabulous, the accommodations were outstanding, and I didn’t have to do housework. At any rate, Silverthorne is alive with all manner of winter sports, the theme of our 2021 dining room Christmas decor.

  11. After being born and living in Salina, Kansas and KC, MO for my growing up years and part of my married life…lets just say I LOVE LIVING IN FLORIDA! Way too cold and icy and just plain ugly after the first snowfall where you live. LOL

However I still remain loyal to my sports teams…the KC Royals, The Kansas Jayhawks and the KC Chiefs. (Go Chiefs and Rock Chalk wins this week, Yay!)

Your tribute table to sports is spot on. I love all kinds of sports. I love your attention to detail. The large white and red centerpieces are beautiful. Definitely a snowy experience for your guests.

Great job and thanks for hopping with us.

  12. Wow Alycia, what an eye popper your table is! The white vases topped with the red balls are amazing! Love all the red white and green! The plaid runner, nuts, nutcrackers and packages scattered about are so cute and fun. The trees are gorgeous as is your bar cart and sideboard vignette! Oh how I would love to come to dinner at your festive house! I wish you a very Merry holiday!

  13. Alycia, I agree with Jenna. The large white vases topped with the red balls are definitely a showstopper! I have been to Silverthorne many times. It was mainly a stopover on our way to Keystone or Breckinridge. That area is truly magical in winter just as your table is. The plaid runner along with every detail (love the nutcrackers), combine for an enchanting winterscape. The sideboard, bar cart, and trees add to beauty of your dining room table. Almost forgot to mention the faux fur everywhere, perfect for those cold evenings either in Kansas or Colorado! Wishing you a most joyous Christmas season!

  14. Alycia, love your bright and festive dinning room! Having a family who loves to ski, I was immediately taken by your new pair of adorable nutcrackers. Geez, I may have to get me to a Penney’s lol! My sons would love them and the sweaters, hats, etc. decking out the bar cart — sooo cute! Merry Christmas and stay warm and cozy.

  15. Ooooooo I LOVE your dining room! You have a tree! And I love that some of your liquor is dressed for the cold in sweaters and things. But the vases and the ornaments make me truly happy….I love it! Everyone will love your dining room, and I even love the details of the tea lights at each place setting. Fun table! (Love the fur in the room, too.)

    Merry Christmas!

  16. Alycia! You have a knack for drama! Love your festive and dramatic tablescape. Using the large uns and red shiny balls on each end with Nutcracker skiers was clever and eye-catching. Sadly, our J.C. Penny closed but fancy finding such nice Nutcrackers there.
I also love the furry wreath and furry napkin rings. Repeating the fur underneath the plaid runner was effective . Candy canes on your glasses are cute too.
Your buffet and bar car has darling touches dressed in sweaters, hats, and scarves.
Wishing you and your family a wonderful Christmas. Hoping no repeat of 2020 this new year! Thanks for all your husband endured.

  20. Oh, I love the furry napkin rings and wreath, and those sweaters on the bar spirits. That’s a great pep club right there for the sports athletes participating! The tartan bar accessories are gold medal worthy! Your nutcrackers are fine additions, and I love how you make such a statement with the pillar and ball ornaments on the table, Alycia! A great tablescape of winter sports, olympic style! Oh, and all those fine elements from Pier 1…..waaah., why did they leave us tablescapers?!
Alyicia, thank you for bringing the sport of tablescaping to us today and always. Wishing you a bright and merry season!

  25. I can take winter a little at a time. I love the beauty of a snow covered landscape but not so much when roadsides get black and snow begins to melt. Fortunately, your table captures the good parts of winter in a vibrant and energetic way.
