Join me starting at 6:00 CDT tonight for
Cuisine Kathleen‘s Birds/Eggs/Nests Tablescape Challenge!!!
I had a ton of flowers left over from the ladies’ luncheon I hosted for my Mom’s birthday a couple of weeks ago, so I put together a quickie tablescape to demonstrate how some of these same flowers could be used in a less formal but nonetheless pretty luncheon or brunch setting for Spring or Summer. This setting would also be ideal for a baby shower (especially if the gender is unknown!), special adult birthday, bridal shower or luncheon, engagement party, Mother’s Day gathering, rehearsal dinner, or even a garden club get-together.
(Click on any photo, then click again to enhance/enlarge it.)
As with the luncheon, full-length 90″ x 132″ white tablecloths from LinenTablecloth.com were used. The table this time, however, is configured to seat 8 instead of 12, with the two 6-ft. tables kissed together lengthwise to create an “almost square.” (Consider this table arrangement in rooms where multiple tables will be set up, too. A mix of rounds, “squares” and oblongs is very pleasing to the eye, helps settle the problem of too few or too many place settings at a table, and can offer varied centerpiece opportunities!)
The place settings here are quite pared down compared to my Mom’s luncheon! A square rattan charger from Tuesday Morning anchors the setting. A very feminine and pretty white scrolled plate from Home Goods is set out for lunch.
A cotton napkin in spring green and white from Stein Mart is simply tented and placed atop each plate. The flatware – also used in last week’s “All A’Bloom in Pink for Spring” tablescape – is Hampton Forge’s “Bamboo Mirror” stainless steel pattern. The glassware is from Dollar Tree.
All of the flowers needed to be re-cut anyway to keep them fresh longer, so that was the perfect opportunity to rearrange them into different vessels. Lined moss-covered flower pots make beautiful small arrangements to complement the centralized large whitewashed metal pitcher. Whitewashed metal planters flank each end of the table-length centerpiece, with all of it anchored by a sheet of moss. (Flowers and greenery: white spider mums, peachy pink roses, peachy pink spray roses, fragrant stock, greenish white carnations, seeded eucalyptus, goldenrod, leatherleaf and variegated pittosporum)
Decorative white birds from Michael’s and bird salt & pepper shakers from Pier 1 dot the centerpiece. Small birds from Michael’s also rest at the tip of the forks.
Finally, the same white stretch chair covers from LinenTablecloth.com are used, this time without the white rosette chair cap or satin sash. Reducing the layers of fabric on the chairs serves to further reduce the complexity of the overall tablescape.
So, there you have it. From over-the-top fab one week to sweet, lovely and a whole lot easier to accomplish while maintaining quality results the next!

All of my favorites! Fresh flowers, birds, moss and green and white! I’m sure your mom’s luncheon was a great success and Hey, you got two tablescapes out of it!
I love the crispness of green and white. Every piece of your tablescape is beautiful and makes a very springy statement. It’s nice to be able to reuse the flowers and create an all new look.
Love the moss pots and the table runner….I have been wanting one of those! Looking at your gorgeous table with all the flowers makes me happy that I spent my entire day fluffing old mulch, adding new mulch and moving hydrangea bushes to a new spot. My back hates me, but your table reminds me why I do it.
Fresh flowers on my table! Love the white roses with the spider mums (think that’s their name) mixed in…Bet your whole house smells great:-)
See you tonight at Kathleen’s party!
Simple, maybe. Sophisticated…absolutely! I love the dynamic of the square table with the square chargers…great idea. Thanks for inviting us for a peek. Cherry Kay
This is stupendous — just perfect in my book. I hope you get this comment — sometimes it won’t go.
Love this!!! The flowers have me intrigued. I love the look you created. The luncheon table is wonderful. I could sit there for hours with you and get my mojo back!! Gorgeous table, you have wonderful style my dear friend.
Oh what an elegant table. I love everything about it, Alycia. The green and white is just stunning. All the fresh flowers really make a difference, too.

Hi Alycia, Those flower still look amazing! You must have the magic touch. The plates are beautiful. You make me realize I don’t have enough texture plates. Uh oh, shopping trip and I will just blame it you! The table looks lovely with the chair covers and all the white with the touches of nature in the brown chargers and greenery. Dianne
Love your woven placemats with their shape that mimics the white plates. The green and white colors are so soothing. Your sweet birdies add a Spring touch!
Have a great week!
Those little moss covered pots are my favorite! Along with all the other things you put on this table. The green and white is perfect for spring… It’s so nice to see you reuse flowers.. or repurpose might sound better. LOL I am always keeping flowers around until….well, until they dry sometimes and then I keep keeping them..LOL
Wow this turned out lovely! Those napkins are my favorite and the square dishes too. It’s so nice that you got to use the florals for more than one table setting. I love getting good mileage out of them like that. I’m loving the center mat, the moss covered pots and the little birds but mostly the big white washed metal pitcher!
Beautiful, simply beautiful. The embossed white china looks as if were made to be used with little white birds. The moss covered flower pots and the moss runner are are perfect for a Spring table. You are so talented…. I love it!

You table is just breathtakingly beautiful! I love the soft colors….wonderful!
Ok that moss sheet is pretty neat! I love the tone of this table, it’s soft and elegant and gives you a “come hither” look. The fitted chair covers are always a nice touch. Love the tip about putting the two tables together. You could really expand a centerpiece. Beautiful job dear friend!
What a pleasant place to sit! I love all the flowers in their various containers. I love the moss covered pot especially. The scrolled plate is so beautiful; I have never seen it. It looks perfect with the rattan charger. You always set the best tables. Jon
You do such pretty tables and amaze me with your napkins. Flowers and all make for a beautiful tablescape!
Fresh and springy! Very pretty. Me likey. 🙂
Alycia, your white decorative birds are beautiful!!! I love the mixture of flowers and greenery. I wish I had a Steinmart! The napkins are gorgeous with your tablescape. I love the rattan chargers. I just bought some round ones at Wally World for 5 bucks each, which I thought was a deal. They had square ones, too, but I have no square dishes. I love the square, especially with your beautiful plates! Your Dollar Tree stems are perfect, and those moss pots and mat add yet another delicious texture. It’s all beautiful, as always, my friend! Thank you for the load of inspiration. 🙂
Spring has sprung Alycia! Adorable theme and I loved the fresh green and white. The square scrolled plates and rattan chargers are current and modern-very fresh and unexpected. The toile linens are gorgeous. I must check out my local Steinmart too! Can’t believe the flowers lasted this long. They look great re-arranged in new bouquets! The moss table runner is such a clever idea! Kudos on another inspiring table! Can’t believe you found time to answer my million questions while putting this masterpiece together!
My god, I would feel like a Queen seatting at this stunning table, as always Alycia! Lovely fresh Green and White and all the attention to detail here.
The rattan chargers are awesome, just right for the Spring touch…it adds texture! .
The moss runner is fabulous too! Thanks for the tons of inspiration, I always learn something from your outstanding settings my friend.
PS: ‘I cannot believe the flowers lasted that long and they look so very fresh!’
This is just beautiful, Alycia. I love all the little birdies that showed up in this tablescape–that’s always a favorite decor item for me!
It is amazing how you have totally changed the look using the same flowers and some of the same linens for another great look. Those chair covers are wonderful. Your birdies are so eye catching and the napkins are lovely. I like how you put two tables together making a square.
Have a wonderful Easter.
Hi Alycia! Did you feel me thinking of you last weekend? I was meeting with the event planner for Charlotte’s wedding and I was thinking of you and your beautiful wedding tables!! My standards have definitely gone way up since I started blogging! I love these chair covers. That’s something we are discussing now ~~what chairs to choose. So many details!!! And then the table shapes…I like your “almost square” idea. Thanks for the inspirations! Linda

Gorgeous and elegant, Alycia! Those napkins are the perfect touch for this feminine setting, and the flowers are delightful!
The ability to use anything more than once works for me big time. Of course, when you do that the look completely changes and is perfect right down to the last detail. I like seeing the little birdies on the table as somehow to me, birds always make things seem happy.
Absolutely, positively beautiful and elegant, Alycia! The napkins are gorgeous, such a soft green and those plates…wow. I think this is one of my favorites of all the beautiful tables you have done.
Hope you are reveling in this beautiful weather…I even sat out on the porch with a nice glass of chard, yesterday!
Another fabulous tablescape Alycia. It;s great your flowers are lasting, so you could create another tablescape. The green and white is lovely and so crisp for Spring. I still love your lovely chair covers. The sweet birds really make this a truly spring table. Such a beautiful time of year. I hope the weather is behaving for you.
I love your idea of combining tables for different tablescape design ideas–I never even considered that as an option! The moss flower parts were a great touch, and I think those little bird salt and pepper shakers are so cute.
So pretty! I’d love to be dining at this table! The colours and textures are fabulous and the “square table out of 2 tables” is a great idea!
This is so pretty. The napkins really catch my eye.
I do hope you’ll share this at Seasonal Sundays.

Hello, Alycia! I love re-purposing, and you, of course, are THE pro at using things/anything creatively! This is a perfect example of that! Your mom’s party table was beautiful, and now you’ve pared it down to yet another beautiful table! The square dishes as sooo, sooo pretty too! And I just love those stretch chair covers–they look uniform and sleek. Great as always, Alycia! ~Zuni

The napkins are such a fresh color green as well as the stemware. Your added touches of birds and whimsy is awesome. Sorry I am late I am very behind with my emails.
Beautiful as always, my dear! I love the way the napkins are folded, Alycia! You should post a tutorial on your blog for chicks like me who have no clue how to do a pretty fold.
